Over the last decade, the Ghanaian music industry has evolved and seen a steady growth, leading to few artistes such as Sarkodie, R2bees and Edem breaking into the seemingly elusive international music markets, feats that were chartered by the Osibisas, Kojo Antwi and Rocky Dawuni.

As part of the vision to empower creative individuals and business in the entertainment, media artistic and sports areas, to fully develop their brands and earning potential, Africa 1 Media as part of its Thought Leadership Series, held a Master Class Media Session together with Trace Naija to educate and inform creatives on the necessary steps to build strong brands and to break into emerging markets.

Moderating the Master Class Media Session, held at the African Regent Hotel in Accra, the Africa 1 Media Regional Director for Southern Africa, Tongayi Masvikwa reiterated the need for African artistes to build strong brands to bridge the gaps between the international music markets.

The Head of Programming at Trace Najia, Nosa Omoregie, urged Ghanaian creatives invest in their music videos as it is a sure way to help build one’ brand outside the shores of Ghana. He also made note that, having a good management team was vital to the success and longevity of any artiste.

Nosa answering a barrage of question on why Trace Tv, hardly played Ghanaian videos, he stated that the quality and inconsistency of videos put out by artistes who get played did not meet the criteria the station required. Nosa futher said Youtube views also accounted for plays a video was likely to get. He advised artistes to invest in their crafts to get their standards up, as it was one of the ways to ensure airplay.
